Job overview

Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.

We are currently looking for an experienced Oral Health Practitioner to play a key role in delivering community outreach programmes in the London borough of Redbridge including fluoride application and tooth brushing schemes across a wide variety of community settings, ensuring the focus remains firmly on quality and safety. You will act as an ambassador for the Service, promoting the highest standards of excellence in working practices.

You will lead on ensuring outreach programmes are delivered to the highest standard and play an active role in the stakeholder engagement programmes to promote uptake of the schemes. You will be responsible for directing and supervising a team of Outreach Therapists and Extended Duties Dental Nurse and support a cohesive team approach, developing and strengthening partnership working both internally and externally. As part of the role you will be expected to attend commissioner meetings where you will be expected to provide feedback and background to the activity reports submitted.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will need to be able to work in a very busy environment whilst remaining calm and be able to deliver the outreach programmes effectively through challenging situations, so the ability to work independently, proactively and under pressure is important. A positive attitude, excellent clinical skills and a commitment to best practice in clinical care and continued professional development is essential.

You will be required to travel around London to reach the communities we serve.

Please note if you do not meet the essential criteria for this role we would be willing to view this as a development opportunity for the right candidate.

Please note, this vacancy does not meet the criteria for skilled worker sponsorship and therefore, we are unable to accept applications from candidates that cannot provide documentary evidence of right to work in the United Kingdom.

We want you to be able to work in a way that is best for us, for our patients and for you. Talk to us about a flexible working arrangement that won’t involve sacrificing time for personal interests or family commitments. We’ll support you to work flexibly in a way that will suits us both.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a community Trust, many of our roles require individuals to be able to drive to perform their duties. Where driving is a requirement of the role, you will be asked to confirm that you hold a full UK driving licence or a full driving licence issued by an EU country (not exchanged from a non-EU country) to proceed with your application. We are committed to supporting candidates with disabilities into employment. If you are unable to drive due to a disability, please contact the Recruitment Team via kentchft.recruitment@nhs.net, quoting the vacancy reference number, so we can support you further.

The job description and person specification gives you all the information you need about this role. Please look carefully at the criteria in the person specification and tell us what you have done that shows you meet this in your application. If you need an application form in an alternative format please let our recruitment team know. All information you supply on your application should, to the best of your knowledge, be true and accurate.

At KCHFT we strongly encourage colleagues in clinical and non-clinical roles who have direct or social contact with patients to be fully vaccinated. In this way we will be doing all we can to ensure your safety and that of your colleagues and the patients we serve.
