Our OEM Client based in Gaydon, is searching for a Vehicle Safety Test Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a 12-month contract position initially until 31st March 2026, with the potential for further extensions.
Umbrella Pay Rate: £27.03 per hour.
This role is based within Vehicle Safety Test Laboratory. This role is responsible for supporting and delivering physical test activity in a laboratory environment.
Key Performance Indicators:
Tests completed to time and quality.
Test record/report submission to time and quality.
Test logging completed on time and quality.
Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) Adherence.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Assembly of test rigs and test properties to required specification.
Operation of rig control systems to ensure accurate and representative test conditions.
Operation of data acquisition and instrumentation systems to enable robust data collection.
Carry out rig inspection and maintenance, able to diagnose issues and ensure repairs are made in a timely and robust manner.
Conduct inspections of rig and test properties to support identification of issues and root cause.
Ensure test process documentation is completed to time and quality e.g. DART reports/records, logs, plans, issues.
Responsibility for operational Value Add on your associated rig/facility, accurate record keeping of activities relating to test progress and or delays within standard test management systems.
Coordinate required fixture design and manufacture in conjunction with design team where necessary.
Ensuring regular and informative updates to your Lead Engineer.
Be responsible for the health and wellbeing of yourself and others, challenge poor practices and provide the appropriate guidance to others.
Actively engage in the continual improvement of laboratory technology and test processes.
Adhere to all compliance frameworks including “Quality Management System” IATF 16949, “Environmental” ISO 14001 and “Health & Safety Management System” ISO 45001. Where necessary “Laboratory Standards” ISO 17025.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Technical knowledge and experience of test facility operation and test sample preparation.
Operational understanding of principals of data acquisition and closed loop control systems.
Ability to process associated data and report on findings.
Problem-solver with a structured approach in a technical environment.
Desire to learn and apply new skills readily shares knowledge with others.
A clear communicator.
Able to understand engineering terminology and documentation.
Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements e.g. Risk Assessments, COSHH etc.
Knowledge of instrumentation calibration processes.
Computer literate.
Education:
Engineering Apprenticeship.
NVQ 3 or similar as a minimum qualification.
Degree educated desirable
