Job Title: Electrical Manager - Solar PV & Retrofit
Salary: £50,000–£60,000 + bonus
Location: Southern England (field-based with some home working)
You're the kind of electrical professional people rely on when it has to be right. Not "good enough", not "passed once", but safe, compliant and properly evidenced. You know solar PV and retrofit only deliver on their promise when the electrics are installed, tested and documented to the highest standard - and you take real pride in being the person who protects that standard.
This role gives you ownership of the electrical function within a growing solar PV and retrofit operation. You'll be trusted as the technical lead, shaping quality on site, guiding electricians and subcontractors, and ensuring every installation stands up to scrutiny - from initial design decisions through to final test results and certification.
Why this role
This is a position for someone who wants influence, not just responsibility. You'll sit at the heart of delivery, balancing hands-on presence in the field with genuine management and oversight. Your judgement will steer outcomes, reduce risk, and help scale a high-quality renewables service across the South of England.
What you'll do
You'll oversee the electrical elements of domestic and small commercial solar PV, battery storage and retrofit projects, ensuring compliance with BS 7671, MCS standards, TrustMark and building regulations. You'll carry out regular site inspections, quality checks, and support testing and commissioning, making sure results are captured clearly and consistently. A key part of the role is reporting and compliance: reviewing certification packs, handover documentation, RAMS and evidence trails, and tightening processes so the business is always audit-ready. You'll support and guide subcontracted electricians, advise site managers, and step in early to resolve technical issues before they become expensive problems.
About the company
The business is a specialist renewable energy and retrofit contractor working across domestic and small commercial properties. Quality, compliance and long-term performance sit at the centre of its culture. The organisation is growing steadily and investing in people who want to build something credible and lasting in the clean energy sector.
About you
You hold a Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation, 18th Edition, and 2391 (Inspection & Testing), with at least three years' hands-on solar PV experience. You're already involved in compliance, reporting and electrical oversight - whether that's reviewing test results, managing certification, leading quality checks, supervising electricians, or acting as the "final sign-off" voice on site. You don't need to be an existing NICEIC Qualified Supervisor, but you must be comfortable operating at that level of responsibility and accountability.
Rewards & growth
Alongside a competitive salary and performance bonus, you'll receive a company vehicle or car allowance, pension contributions, generous holiday allowance plus your birthday off, and ongoing training to keep you at the forefront of the renewables sector. This is a role with real progression as the company continues to expand.
How to apply
If you're ready to take technical ownership and make a tangible impact in renewable energy delivery, we'd love to hear from you.
