Building Surveyor (Fire Safety) – Permanent Post – Warwick District Council – Housing
Working hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £26,824 to £46,142 per annum (based on qualifications and experience)
Overview
We are looking for an experienced Building Surveyor with a background in Fire Safety & Risk to join our Housing and Assets team. The role involves managing fire safety improvement works, ensuring compliance with legislation, and supporting energy efficiency and tenant safety initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Manage key fire safety improvement works and deliver actions from Fire Risk Assessments.
* Ensure compliance with all Fire Safety regulations and relevant Building Regulations.
* Specify and manage works for the council’s housing stock, including aids and adaptations for tenants.
* Manage fire safety works for corporate and commercial premises, many located in conservation areas.
* Apply knowledge of design principles for fire safety (emergency lighting, sprinkler systems, fire doors, etc.).
* Support fire safety measures and HHSRS risk solutions.
* Work under Climate Emergency priorities to improve building energy efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
* HNC, HND or Degree relevant to the built environment.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience working for a local authority, corporate property provider or similar.
* Proven track record in fire safety & risk management.
* Understanding of the design principles for fire safety work.
* Experience with conservation and national heritage buildings is an advantage.
Working Arrangements
The postholder will work predominantly from home with periodic attendance at the council’s offices or sites in Warwick District. Travel costs from home to office are met by the candidate. Hybrid working arrangements are available.
