Head of Software Technology - Consumer Products (Software and Hardware), B2B Hybrid Working - BuckinghamshireOur client have a global presence and are a leader when it comes to manufacturing consumer products through new and innovative channels. The have already disrupted the market having manufactured a number of future facing customer products that enable them to stay ahead of their competitors, grow their brand internationally and reach a wider customer base.They are currently seeking a Head of Engineering/ Head of Software Technology who will join them and become responsible for leading the development of new customer products, technology strategy, delivery of products and services across multiple B2B channels. You will collaborate with the wider technology functions (hardware, firmware and software, innovation hub) to ensure a clear and aligned target architecture for B2B solutions.You will be working on the software behind customer products that are been designed by the innovation and hardware teams. These should be future facing concepts that deliver new products to much a wider customer base through a variety of customer solutions and delivery methodologies.The Head of Software Technology will:Manage multiple agile software engineering teams up to c.40 technical staffWork closely with the hardware and innovation teams to understand how the software will communicate with the hardware of the products Understand how customers will interact with the product for a seamless experience Define an architecture that is in line with broader business architectural direction and multi-year strategyAgree product strategy and communicate this across the senior stakeholdersEnsure alignment across all capability teamsMaintain a highly committed set of delivery teams, and hire the correct talent to build and maintain the productsDefine the best strategy and methodology behind the scalability and delivery of physical products at scale to deliver goods to a global customer baseWe are looking for someone who has:Background across Software Engineering and being technically hands on with excellent agile development methodologyExperience working with hardware or firmware teams to understand how products are built and how they interact with the software (for example, household/ entertainment products like speakers, hoovers, gadgets) Experience in understanding the customer experience when dealing with physical productsExcellent communication skills and the ability to present, with commercial awarenessManage risk, influence change, motivate teams, create a strong culturePrioritise projects and deliveryExperience working within a B2B business (Retail, Household, Appliances, Gadgets)This a hybrid working role, and initially requires a good level of visibility.
