PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
• Due to the continued growth and success of the firm, we are seeking an enthusiastic finance professional who is eager to progress their career to join our Tax team as a Partnership Tax Analyst.
• This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to establish their finance career and play a key role in supporting the Tax team in delivering first-class advice to both the Partners and the UK LLP.
• The role offers significant stakeholder engagement from the outset, as well as study support opportunities to further a career in Tax. This is a crucial, hands-on position where the successful candidate will be able to add real value to the smooth running of the team's processes.
THE TEAM
• The Partnership Tax team supports both Addleshaw Goddard LLP, associated firms and individual partners on all aspects of taxation. We strive to deliver a first-class service to our stakeholders and to be an essential asset to both the firm as a whole and the wider Finance Department.
• In addition to tax, the Group Finance team comprises business professionals across a range of disciplines including Financial Control, Procurement, Business Partnering, Financial Planning and Analysis, Credit Control, Accounts Payable, Legal Billing and Legal Cashiering. The tax team work with all parts of the Finance Group
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE
• The Tax Analyst will become a member of Partnership Tax Team which currently has six members of staff. You will receive full training and be supported by the tax team to accomplish a broad range of tasks throughout the 'tax year'. Full support will be given to your completing qualifications with the appropriate professional body (ATT and CTA).
Some of the main tasks carried out by the team:
• Preparation of UK tax filings for Addleshaw Goddard LLP in the UK, which includes the preparation of tax computations and tax returns.
• Completion of individual tax returns for both UK and International resident partners of the LLP.
• Tax Provisioning for all UK taxes due in respect of profits from Addleshaw Goddard LLP.
• UK Corporation Tax filings for Addleshaw Goddard Service Company Ltd and other UK corporate entities. Preparing tax computations from the accounts and accounting records.
• Preparation of data to be supplied to overseas professional advisors for tax filings in Hong Kong, Dubai, Qatar, Oman, Germany, France and Singapore.
• Assisting overseas partners to understand their remuneration package and taxes due in various locations, performing tax equalisation calculations where necessary.
• Ad-hoc questions regarding other taxes such as VAT, Capital Gains Tax, and Withholding Taxes in overseas locations.
• Dealing with enquiries from overseas offices on filing and compliance issues.
• Reporting to the Board and to individual partners on the key changes and developments in taxation.
• Support HR department on taxation issues arising from secondments to and from the UK.
• In the coming years support with regard to new tax legislation including 'Making Tax Digital' and other HMRC proposed changes.
• Assisting payroll department with quarterly and annual reports to HMRC and answering any questions they may have about the application of UK taxes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Have a keen attention to detail.
• ATT qualified or 2 years tax experience would be beneficial but not essential.
• Be keen to learn and establish a career progression in taxation.
• Previous experience in an accounting team environment would be beneficial, but not essential.
• Be proactive in developing new ways of working and ensuring controls are maintained.
• Be at ease working with and speaking to Partners and other senior members of the firm.
• Competent / advanced Excel skills.
• The role may require some travel to UK offices.
