Talentedge are partnering with a fast-growing, tech-enabled outsourced finance and accounting firm that supports ambitious UK tech-led businesses.
This is not a traditional accounting practice. The firm has been built around modern systems, automation, data and premium client service, with a clear belief that the best professional services firms of the future will use technology to remove low-value work and allow people to focus on judgement, relationships and commercial impact.
The business is scaling its UK team and is now looking for a Accounting Manager to take senior ownership of client service quality, portfolio performance and team development.
This is a fully remote role, so applicants must have meaningful, long-term experience working from home within a UK accounting practice environment.
The Role
As Accounting Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the success of a portfolio of client relationships, while leading and mentoring a team of Finance Managers and Finance Associates.
You will not be expected to manage every day-to-day client interaction. Instead, you will provide senior oversight, act as an escalation point, review complex work, improve delivery standards and ensure clients receive a seamless outsourced finance function.
The firm supports clients across management reporting, AP oversight, VAT, payroll, statutory accounts, year-end compliance and commercial finance support. Your role will be to make sure this service is delivered consistently, commercially and to a high standard.
You will also play a key role in shaping how the firm operates as it grows, helping to improve processes, support team progression and identify opportunities to expand client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
* Owning client service quality and relationship success across your portfolio
* Leading, coaching and supporting Finance Managers and Finance Associates
* Acting as the senior escalation point for complex client queries or delivery issues
* Maintaining selective senior-level client relationships and strategic touchpoints
* Overseeing client onboarding and ensuring smooth transitions into the outsourced finance model
* Reviewing complex management accounts, VAT returns and statutory accounts
* Ensuring annual accounts are compliant with FRS 102 1A standards
* Monitoring portfolio profitability, KPIs and team capacity
* Driving process improvements across client delivery and internal operations
* Supporting team development, progression and accountability
* Identifying opportunities for upsell and cross-sell across tax, international services and CFO support
* Getting hands-on with accounting work where needed during periods of growth, transition or capacity pressure
* Representing the firm externally as a trusted provider of outsourced finance, accounting and tax services
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will be:
* ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualified
* Experienced within a UK accounting practice environment
* Comfortable managing a portfolio of 50+ clients
* Experienced onboarding new clients in a fast-paced environment
* Strong across statutory accounts, VAT, corporation tax and management reporting
* Confident reviewing work and maintaining high technical standards
* Experienced using Xero
* Proven in managing, coaching or mentoring team members
* Commercially minded, client-focused and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment
* Confident working independently in a fully remote business
Applicants must have substantial long-term homeworking experience within UK practice. Remote experience gained only during Covid-19 restrictions will not be sufficient. Formal hybrid experience may be considered where homeworking was a long-term, contracted arrangement of typically two to three days per week.
