Role Overview
The specific aim of the BCPS Haematology and Blood Transfusion Operational Manager role is to manage the day-to-day operations of a specific area of the laboratory service, at the hub or ESL laboratory, as an integral element of Pathology.
The post holder is required to support the delivery of a service that is compliant with HCPC, Blood Safety and Quality Regulations 2005, and ISO Standards pertaining to UKAS accreditation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Management: Responsible for the management of the Dudley ESL for Haematology and Transfusion, ensuring the delivery of quality management systems and meeting key performance indicators.
2. Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to relevant policies, accreditation, and regulatory frameworks.
3. Staff Management: Manage staff including appraisal, training, CPD, performance, leave, sickness absence, and participate in recruitment.
4. Strategic Development: Implement strategic developments within the team.
5. Financial Responsibility: Manage delegated staffing budgets and hold signatory status on behalf of line management.
6. Representation: Represent Pathology in liaising with local commissioners and external agencies.
