As part of the Properties Team, the Retail Design Manager (UK & Ireland) is responsible for leading and delivering retail design and projects for all new stores in the UK and Ireland, as well as our existing estate. The Retail Designer will lead on design projects across the existing estate, including store refits, redecoration, signage updates, and changes to fixtures and shopfloor layouts. They will produce technical drawings and documentation for planning, landlord approvals, tender and construction, while managing key stakeholders throughout each project. With strong CAD technical capability and design interpretation and appreciation for the Seasalt brand style, the role will require the creation operationally successful retail designs that adhere to set budgets whilst inspiring and exciting the Seasalt customer. This is a full-time, permanent role, and in line with our Seasalt Connected approach to ways of working, this role will be based flexibly across our Cornwall head office locations (minimum 40% of working week) and remotely within the UK. You’ll help us by: Leading the UK&I store project programme for new shops and design projects from inception through concept development to handover and AsBuilt publication. Developing new design concepts, features and decorative elements by keeping up to date with design trends, competitors, design shows, research trips and design resources. Producing and coordinating comprehensive project drawing packages, including plans, elevations, details, sections, visuals and specifications to support decisionmaking and construction. Obtaining all required project consents including landlord approvals, planning permissions and other authority signoffs, ensuring all works are fully approved prior to completion. Acting as ‘Principal Designer’ under CDM 2015, consulting with Health & Safety to ensure compliance with Building Control, Fire Safety and CDM requirements. Managing new shop opening setups including snagging, overseeing installations and taking surveys to produce accurate AsBuilt plans. Leading competitive tender processes, preparing required documentation and drawings, and managing contractors, suppliers and consultants to ensure quality, time and budget control. Coordinating stakeholders across multiuser retail sites, ensuring adherence to centre guidelines and securing all necessary approvals. Managing project schedules, critical paths, reinstatement works and budgets, providing regular progress reports and risk updates to the Director of Property. Preparing and presenting design proposals including concept boards, sketches, technical drawings, visuals and specifications for internal and external approval, including presentations to the Executive Board, and leading weekly project meetings. Leading a small team consisting of a Retail Designer and Properties Project Administrator. The skills you’ll be sharing with the team: Relevant degree e.g. Interior Design, Architecture or relevant experience. Proven experience working within retail, design, architecture and construction. Proven experience of the endtoend design process, from concept through planning to site implementation. Project management experience within a similar commercial environment. Fluent with Auto CAD. Proficient in Adobe Suite. Competent in Microsoft Office. Strong understanding of construction, building regulations and mechanical and electrical. Health and Safety in commercial property knowledge. Creative with evidence of interpreting brand values and guidelines. Building and managing positive supplier relationships to sustain effective supply chain. Experience of the planning application process. Understanding of architectural construction documents and drawing packages. Driving savings and managing project budgets and team running costs. Responsibility for planning, lead times, deadlines and schedules. Accomplished freehand drawing skills with a handle on perspective and scale. Goal focused, able to prioritise and multi-task to meet concurrent deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong organisation, communication and planning skills. Team spirited. High level of accuracy and an eye for detail. Flexibility to travel and work additional hours that may be needed.
