Offer description

37 hours per week (part-time welcome) - Fixed Term to 31st March 2026, (it is anticipated successful candidate will primarily work from home).

The Centre for Sustainable Delivery (CfSD) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated diabetes healthcare professional to join our innovative team. As a key member of the new National Diabetes CLS Onboarding Team, you will play a vital role in the development, delivery, and evaluation of a national Closed Loop System (CLS) onboarding programme aimed at improving the accessibility of CLS devices across Scotland. This high-profile role will provide the post holder with a unique opportunity to use innovative and collaborative approaches to support the national deployment of Diabetes CLS.

The successful candidate(s) should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to secure clinical and operational engagement and drive safe, effective, and person-centered improvements in care on a Once for Scotland basis.

The post holder will be comfortable working in close collaboration with a wide range of key partners and stakeholders, both in national and territorial Boards. They will communicate a clear vision for change.

Experience in educating, training, and supporting people to be onboarded to Diabetes CLS is essential. It is vital that the successful candidate(s) understand the complexity of managing Type 1 diabetes. Excellent group education and facilitation skills are essential to this role. Most training and education sessions are anticipated to be delivered remotely/virtually, and patient support and follow-up will primarily be conducted through remote means or by phone and NHS Near Me. However, there may be instances where in-person patient training is delivered in specific localities as part of the programme.

Project management experience is not essential; the post provides a unique opportunity to gain project management skills and experience in improvement methodologies. The National Diabetes CLS Onboarding Team will be supported to input to project management planning and project documentation and reports.

We offer a supportive and dynamic work environment where your expertise will have a significant impact on improving access to diabetes CLS throughout Scotland. This role provides a unique opportunity for individuals residing anywhere in Scotland to contribute to this national initiative. Hot desk office accommodation is available at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital; however, we anticipate that the post holder(s) will primarily work from home. Some travel for in-person meetings and patient training will be required by the post holder(s). Consideration to the post holder(s) location and a team approach will be taken when planning activity requiring the need for travel. This is a 1-year post offering flexibility in terms of working hours and schedule.

This is a rare opportunity to engage in a high-profile area of work that requires passionate, motivated, and value-driven individuals who will work as part of a team to confidently lead, manage, develop, and implement a national Diabetes CLS onboarding programme that will deliver measurable improvements in the health and wellbeing of people with Type 1 diabetes across all of Scotland. If you like a challenge and are committed to improving access to diabetes CLS, in partnership with a wide variety of stakeholders, then we want to hear from you. You will work as part of an exciting new team, including senior clinical leaders, within the Centre for Sustainable Delivery, and will have the opportunity to develop your skills at a national level.

For informal discussions, please contact Gavin Dolan, National Associate Nurse Director (CfSD) on gavin.dolan@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk or Arlene Dale, Senior National Diabetes Educator on Arlene.dale@gjnh.scot.nhs.uk
