About The Role
The Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) plays an important role in helping people receive necessary care. You'll transport elderly, sick, and vulnerable patients to medical appointments and between healthcare facilities, showing compassion during times of vulnerability. We work together to support our community, NHS, and patients.
This role requires empathy and compassion. These skills are developed during our initial training and ongoing support. We provide all the tools needed to build a meaningful career.
This is a vital role, providing excellent care and ensuring safety and patient welfare. You will receive comprehensive training to prepare you for any situation.
Key Responsibilities
* Driving patients with varying health and mobility needs to and from hospital/clinic appointments
* Assist, move, and handle patients, using appropriate equipment such as carry chairs, stretchers, and wheelchairs
* Ensure safety and patient welfare, providing reassurance and support
* Assist patients entering and leaving their homes
* Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and equipment
* Liaise with the central control team for timely pick-up and drop-off
* Undertake patient and vehicle risk assessments, complete reports and documentation
About You
You must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence. You should be effective and resilient under pressure, work well as part of a team, and have strong communication skills. A sympathetic, respectful, and caring attitude towards patients is essential, along with flexibility and adaptability to meet service needs.
