Summary of the Job
The ICT Infrastructure and Development Manager is a senior member of the IM&T management team. They are in charge of directing and growing the organisation’s ICT Infrastructure and ICT Development operations. This position designs, delivers, secures and constantly improves the Trust’s essential digital services, ensuring that the Trust’s technology environment is strong, scalable and aligned with organisational goals. The role works out of the Oakwood Building and reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer, improving the Trust’s digital capabilities and ensuring all departments provide high‑quality service.
The main tasks of the job
* Plan, build and maintain the organisation’s server, virtualisation, network and data centre infrastructure, ensuring security, reliability and availability.
* Manage key directory and identity services such as Microsoft 365, Exchange, Teams, VDI platforms, Active Directory, DNS, TCP/IP and group policies.
* Manage data security, protection and recovery, including backups, monitoring, asset management, firewall management and defence against cyber‑security threats.
* Oversee delivery, support and continuous improvement of end‑user computing, software deployment and enterprise management tools on desktops, laptops and servers.
* Plan, prioritise and run technical operations, including system maintenance, fault investigation, service performance monitoring and IM&T development workflows.
* Prepare and track budgets, ensuring efficient resource utilisation across infrastructure and development programmes.
* Provide competent technical advice to stakeholders, act as the primary point of contact with suppliers, support large projects and translate complex technical matters for the Trust.
* Manage and support staff, ensuring continuous skill development, adherence to IM&T standards and policies, and quality of technical procedures.
Requirements for the Person
* Ability to handle stress and meet tight deadlines.
* Strong people skills and customer service orientation.
* Proof of knowledge from professional training courses, such as Microsoft Server, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Active Directory and other Microsoft certifications.
* Experience working in an IT technical setting with a broad understanding of installing, configuring and supporting network gear and software, and networking technologies.
* Capability to design and implement change‑management processes that maximise the Trust’s IT investments.
* Ability to set priorities for yourself and your team to meet deadlines and manage conflicting client requests.
* Knowledge and experience with Windows Server OS.
* Knowledge and experience setting up and managing Microsoft Active Directory.
* Knowledge and experience in setting up and maintaining Exchange, Teams and OneDrive as part of Microsoft 365.
* Experience testing network gear and software for suitability in the infrastructure.
* Ability to work independently, set own priorities and meet deadlines.
* Proof of ongoing professional development through specialised IT training courses, such as network technology and business contingency planning.
