Join to apply for the Specialist Occupational Therapist role at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Occupational Therapy Team based at Furness General Hospital as a Specialist Occupational Therapist within our Inpatient team. The role covers surgical wards, orthopaedic wards, and the Emergency Department (ED). The post holder will manage a specialist caseload, providing occupational therapy interventions to patients within our organization.
The responsibilities include managing caseloads on surgical and orthopaedic wards and ED, supporting other occupational therapists and technical instructors, and responding to referrals in the ED to assess patients and potentially prevent admissions. There are also opportunities to collaborate with community therapy teams.
You should have good clinical knowledge of surgical and physical rehabilitation, with a focus on facilitating safe and effective care and hospital discharges. There will be opportunities to develop skills in complex manual handling with training and support from experienced colleagues.
You will work closely with a dedicated team of Occupational Therapists and other MDT colleagues, and will receive supervision and support from the Occupational Therapy Team Managers. The role encourages engagement in service development and continuous professional development (CPD), which is well supported.
This position is eligible for the trust's relocation package, subject to submission of a claim form and receipts, and a minimum two-year employment requirement.
The trust operates across three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH), Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH), along with community healthcare facilities. Each hospital offers a range of services, including emergency, outpatient, diagnostics, and inpatient care.
