Overview
An opportunity to support the Walsall Children and Young People Public Health portfolio. This is an exciting and busy role working in a Council and team which has "ensuring children and young people have the best start" at its heart.
As Public Health Programme Manager (CYP) you will be a member of the wider dynamic Public Health team as well as a core part of the Health Improvement/CYP sub team. You will provide leadership and advocacy for health and wellbeing across the Council and amongst partners and support the development and implementation of policy and practice to reduce inequalities across Walsall. You will be required to work with staff, organisations, and community groups to build public health capacity across Walsall whilst targeting support to those in greatest need.
Responsibilities
* Support the senior Programme Development Manager in the planning and commissioning of the HCP 0-19 service, and the commissioning of healthy weight programmes for children and adolescents.
* Take forward the Council teenage pregnancy and infant mortality strategy actions to directly impact on children and families in Walsall.
* Demonstrate excellence in networking and influencing, and actively progress a variety of projects concurrently.
* Work in a matrix structure, maintaining close links with staff in other teams and organisations working on related outcomes.
* Cross-cover the work of other team members or take on new areas of work as necessary.
* Apply experience in a public health organisation, with strategic public health skills, competencies and knowledge.

* Ability to network and influence, with a track record of taking multiple projects forward simultaneously.
* Willingness to work in a matrix environment and to cross-cover/undertake new areas of work as needed.
