Overview
Veterinary Care Assistant - Wards/Nights role at IVC Evidensia UK. We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our wards/nights team. You will collaborate with Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurses in delivering essential nursing care and supporting the health and well-being of patients within a multidisciplinary referral hospital.
Key duties include administering basic inpatient care, restocking supplies, upholding high hygiene standards, assisting with patient restraint, providing basic massage and physiotherapy techniques, conducting in-house laboratory tests, and helping to maintain ward equipment.
Responsibilities
* Administer basic inpatient care and monitor patients
* Restock and manage supply levels on the wards
* Uphold high hygiene and cleanliness standards
* Assist with patient restraint as required
* Provide basic massage and physiotherapy techniques
* Conduct a range of in-house laboratory tests
* Maintain ward equipment and assist with daily ward tasks
* Collaborate with Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurses as part of a multidisciplinary team
About the team and environment
We are part of a large veterinary group dedicated to outstanding care and exceptional service. Our rehabilitation team offers physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to support post-operative recovery. The hospital is designed for excellence with modern facilities to deliver care from initial consultation through discharge, located in Ringwood, Hampshire.
Qualifications
* Qualifications in Animal Care are preferred; substantial experience in animal handling and husbandry will also be considered
* Demonstrated dedication to professional and ethical standards
* Ability to remain calm under pressure with a compassionate and empathetic approach
* Strong teamwork and effective communication skills
* Good interpersonal skills, with effective time management, self-motivation, proactivity and initiative
Shift pattern
This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights from 6:00 pm to 6:30 am. One in five Saturday nights, in place of the Wednesday night shift that week.
