Electrical Maintenance Technician
JDR Cable Systems is recruiting for an Electrical Maintenance Technician at our brand new, state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility in Cambois, Blyth. The site has recently been handed back to us by our building contractors and we are ready to move into production, establishing full shift working.
The role reports to the Maintenance Team Leader and involves maintaining and repairing equipment—rotating equipment, stranders, extrusion lines, armourers and carousels—to meet production priorities and ensure optimal performance. The technician will work to strict safety and quality requirements, perform total preventive maintenance (TPM), manage breakdowns, and maintain electrical services through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
Key Responsibilities
* Safety First – promotes and adheres to JDR safety policies and procedures.
* Define, plan, perform and document all maintenance activities using the site CMMS system and other appropriate systems.
* Diagnose faults, carry out planned maintenance and repairs on all types of plant and equipment safely, timely and professionally, returning equipment to operational service.
* Estimate job duration and the consequences of failing to complete work within required timescales.
* Identify and alert any activity that could cause harm or damage.
* Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to management.
* Assist in developing planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules.
* Carry out PPM schedules and planned work orders as required, providing feedback to improve the system.
* Supervise external contractors and equipment vendors, review risk assessments and method statements, and complete permits and isolations using site LOTO procedures.
* Attend training courses to keep personal job skills current with technical developments.
* Proactively engage in continuous improvement activities related to productivity and safety.
* Develop, review and update documentation such as maintenance plans, task lists, SOPs, change control tasks, equipment service reports, risk assessments and method statements.
Qualifications
Electrical Maintenance Technician must be time served in an electrical discipline and/or hold qualifications such as ONC, A Levels, City & Guilds Level 3, BTec National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma or equivalent NVQ Level 3.
Other essential qualifications: practical problem‑solving approach, substantial experience in a high‑volume manufacturing environment, commercial understanding of the impact of failure and downtime on production and customer delivery, ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, understanding of lean manufacturing and the 5S process, and ability to work with minimal supervision while communicating effectively with staff at all levels.
