ABOUT NEW WALK CIC

New Walk CIC are a not-for-profit Registered Provider of Social Housing. We are a rapidly growing organisation focused on delivering housing, support and first-rate services to those who need it most. We work with some of the most marginalised groups within our communities and our working days are often fast-paced, challenging and to the right person, immensely rewarding.

As a team, we strive to create a culture where we are encouraged to develop and the emphasis is very much on supporting each other. We place value on the quality of the person over the qualifications they have on paper. However, we believe passionately in providing training opportunities for our team to achieve their work and life goals both as an individual as well as contributing to an inclusive and successful team.

Being passionate about where and how you work is so important but it is also vital to remember we are all individuals with full lives outside of the workplace. We recognise the importance of a good work-life balance and strive to promote this through flexible working opportunities, providing access to paid-for private counselling, offering benefits around birthdays and promoting team building through away days and friendly competition.

JOB PURPOSE

The Tenancy Support Officer will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to tenants to help them sustain their tenancies and improve their overall quality of life. This role involves working closely with vulnerable individuals, including those facing financial hardship, mental health issues, and other challenges that may impact their ability to maintain their housing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Tenancy Support:

* Provide personalised support to tenants to help them manage their tenancies effectively, including advice on rent payments, property care, and understanding their tenancy agreements.
* Assist tenants in accessing welfare benefits, grants, and other financial assistance to prevent rent arrears and potential evictions.
* Work with tenants to develop and implement action plans that address their individual needs, aiming to improve their independence and quality of life.

Case Management:

* Conduct needs assessments and risk assessments to identify any issues that may impact the tenant's ability to sustain their tenancy.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies, such as social services, mental health teams, and charities, to coordinate support for tenants.

Crisis Intervention:

* Respond to crises, such as potential homelessness, anti-social behaviour, or domestic violence, providing immediate support and working to find long-term solutions.
* Work with tenants at risk of eviction, offering mediation and support to resolve issues and prevent homelessness.

Record Keeping and Reporting:

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of tenant interactions, support provided, and outcomes achieved.
* Prepare reports and updates for management on case progress, risks, and any significant issues.

Community Engagement:

* Facilitate tenant engagement in community activities and initiatives to promote social inclusion and community cohesion.
* Organise and deliver workshops or training sessions on topics such as budgeting, tenancy management, and accessing local services.

Policy and Compliance:

* Ensure that all work is carried out under relevant housing legislation, policies, and procedures.
* Stay informed of changes in legislation and best practices related to housing support and incorporate this knowledge into service delivery.
