As a Senior Bridge Engineer in our Bridges and Civils team within the Transportation business, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transport. We work on a range of significant and challenging projects across the UK and Ireland, including the Lower Thames Crossing, highways works for Sizewell C and Heathrow, and key schemes across the M25 for Connect Plus Services. The team also supports non-transportation civil engineering and structural projects throughout the UK and internationally, such as Hinkley Point C, Transporter Bridge, and Moonshot. We also deliver a wide range of local authority projects for councils across the South.
Your role
* Take pride in developing high‑quality civil and structural designs for new constructions, renewals, maintenance, and assessments.
* Collaborate with national and international design teams, using your expertise and leadership to create positive, sustainable impacts on society and the environment.
* Manage the production and review of high‑quality design documentation, including sketches, drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications.
* Independently carry out technical work and provide guidance to junior staff members.
* Lead teams in the design, assessment, and maintenance of structural projects, and provide structure‑related input on multidisciplinary projects.
* Develop and agree scopes and manage the internal technical supply chain, including budgets, programme, and quality of deliverables.
* Use analytical skills to derive potential solutions to engineering problems and engineer judgement to appraise different options and recommend the most suitable option.
* Lead bids and tenders, win work, and develop client relationships.
About you
* A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
* A professional qualification (CEng/IEng) and membership of the ICE or IStructE.
* Experience of working with key clients such as Transport Scotland, National Highways, Network Rail, local authorities and major contractors and developers.
* Good understanding of relevant design standards (e.g. Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW and Network Rail standards).
* Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment.
* Experience with structural analysis software such as LUSAS, MIDAS and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
* Proven knowledge in design, maintenance, and supervision of structures related projects, with a track record of innovation.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to converse with a wide range of clients, stakeholders and colleagues across engineering disciplines.
* Good project management skills, commercial awareness, financial control and ability to deliver across a range of contract types, including managing stakeholders such as specialist suppliers, independent checkers and local authorities.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If required, this will be discussed during your interview.
