Overview
Equans is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Hatfield. This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus, and benefits package.
What will you deliver?
* Take ownership of the commercial, financial, and contractual management of multiple designated projects.
* Lead on cost management, forecasting, valuations, and reporting to ensure profitability and compliance with contract terms.
* Manage subcontractor accounts, procurement, and prompt payment processes, protecting Equans’ legal and contractual obligations.
* Negotiate and price target costs for future framework contracts, including value engineering pre- and post-tender.
* Ensure variations, change requests, and design changes are properly recorded and recovered.
* Produce accurate monthly cost/valuation reports and cash flows, providing commercial insight to senior management.
* Work closely with legal counsel to prepare contractual documentation and mitigate commercial risks.
* Collaborate with contract managers on planning, subcontractor selection, and materials procurement.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships to support business development opportunities.
* Manage and mentor a commercial team of surveyors (Assistant to Project level), supporting their professional development and performance.

Who are you?
* Experienced in a senior surveying role within a main contractor environment (preferably new build), with proven client-facing skills.
* Strong knowledge of JCT suite of contracts, with the ability to manage complex commercial and contractual matters.
* Technical understanding of construction methods, including modern methods of construction, steel frame, and concrete frame.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (RICS accreditation desirable).
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
* Confident, adaptable, and able to lead and mentor a commercial team.
