Job Summary
The Supported Living Support Worker plays a vital role in assisting individuals with disabilities or special needs to live independently within their community. This position requires a compassionate and patient individual who is dedicated to providing high-quality care and support. The Support Worker will engage with clients in their daily activities, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and dignity while promoting their independence. The client has Prostate cancer, Anxiety and a Dementia Diagnosis and can be verbally challenging. The ideal candidate will have a background in, knowledge of or interest in Farming.
We are looking to cover Regular shifts as follows
Thursdays 4pm to 9pm
Fridays 11am to 4pm and 4pm to 9pm
Saturdays 8am to 3pm and 3pm to 9pm
Sundays 10am to 3.30pm and 3.30pm to 9pm
And additional cover add hoc on other days to enable other team members to take annual leave
Duties
* Provide personal care assistance, including support with washing, dressing, changing pads etc
* Assist clients with meal preparation and ensure nutritional needs are met.
* Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
* Must have good listening skills as the client needs to talk to control anxiety levels and may be repetitive, will need to be responsive and adaptable to changing needs
* Facilitate activities that promote social interaction and community involvement.
* Help clients manage medications as per prescribed guidelines.
* Support individuals with dementia care, ensuring a safe and comforting environment.
* Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in client condition to relevant professionals.
* Accompany clients to appointments or social activities as needed, ensuring safe transportation.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in patient care or a similar role is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of dementia care practices is an advantage.
* Knowledge and experience of supporting individuals with mental health challenges is an advantage
* Knowledge of end of life / palliative care, as client is elderly and has prostate cancer, life expectancy is uncertain and condition could change at any time.
* Ability to perform first aid and respond effectively in emergencies.
* Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their friends and families.
* Capability to assist clients with physical mobility challenges.
* A background in dementia care would be advantageous but not essential
* Must possess a caring attitude and demonstrate patience while working with individuals requiring support.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £12.50-£14.50 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 30 per week
