Job Description:
At Norwich University of the Arts, we champion transdisciplinary making and creating using traditional, digital, and emerging technologies. We provide high-quality workshops and technical resources for students to explore material and digital thinking to achieve their creative ambitions.
We are seeking a creative maker to join our 3D workshop technical team to support students with various 3D making practices, including working with wood, metal, plastics, foam forming, and mould making.
The role involves supporting making and creating with hand tools, traditional processes, and modern fabrication equipment such as 3D printers. You will provide technical advice and support to help students realize their creative ideas, support their learning, and develop practical skills in our dynamic workshop environment.
You will oversee the safe use of equipment and consumables to ensure a safe working environment for students, enabling them to produce innovative and contemporary outcomes.
The successful candidate will join a team of experienced technical colleagues skilled in fabrication methods. We seek a great communicator who is committed, eager to learn, enjoys problem-solving, collaborates well, and can work independently.
Applicants should have practical knowledge and skills in fabrication practices such as wood, metal, plastics, foam forming, or mould making, and understand how these relate to different fabrication methodologies.
If you have proven practical skills and enthusiasm for creating three-dimensional objects, artworks, or models using materials like wood, metal, and plastic, and can provide technical guidance to students, we want to hear from you.
Norwich University of the Arts is dedicated to inclusivity, equality, and diversity, fostering an environment where staff and students can thrive regardless of background or personal circumstances. We celebrate diversity and promote art and design as catalysts for social change, empowering our community to be valued and impactful members of society committed to making a difference.
