The Vacancy
At Hymans Robertson Personal Wealth we are passionate about improving financial wellbeing for people right across the workforce. We do this through providing client-centric guidance and advice services. Established in 2021, we work with over 30 large corporates, delivering financial coaching, wellbeing workshops, individual guidance sessions and financial planning services
As part of our continued growth in this area, we have an opportunity for an experienced Paraplanner to join our team.
What will your role look like?
As an experienced Paraplanner in our Personal Wealth team, you’ll play a vital role in helping us deliver high‑quality, client‑focused financial advice. Working closely with our Planners and wider stakeholders, you’ll use your technical expertise to support the creation of robust, compliant and well‑considered financial plans.
This is a role where your insight and judgement will really matter. You’ll be trusted to analyse complex client scenarios, research appropriate solutions and translate technical detail into clear, practical recommendations. As the team continues to grow, you’ll also have the opportunity to shape how we do things — contributing ideas, supporting development and helping us continually raise the bar.
With flexibility built in, including the option to work from home a couple of days a week, this role offers both challenge and balance, alongside genuine scope for future progression.
Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:
1. Producing high‑quality, technically accurate suitability reports across a wide range of advice areas
2. Carrying out detailed research into funds, products and solutions using tools such as Defaqto and FE Analytics
3. Supporting Planners by preparing illustrations, quotations, valuations and client documentation
4. Analysing complex financial scenarios and contributing expert input to client recommendations
5. Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date client records on the iO back‑office system
6. Keeping abreast of legislative and regulatory changes and reflecting these in advice and reporting
7. Working collaboratively with Planners and administrators to deliver a consistently high standard of service
8. Responding to queries from clients and colleagues in a timely, professional and solutions‑focused way
9. Supporting and mentoring junior team members, overseeing quality and technical accuracy where appropriate
10. Building strong, trusted relationships with Planners and internal stakeholders
To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:
11. Proven experience as a Paraplanner within an IFA or financial planning environment
12. Diploma‑level qualification (or be actively working towards it)
13. Strong technical knowledge across areas such as retirement planning, tax, investments and estate planning
14. Excellent report‑writing skills, with experience producing a wide range of suitability reports
15. Confidence using research and back‑office systems, ideally including iO, Defaqto and FE Analytics
16. A high level of attention to detail and a structured, organised approach to your work
17. Strong communication skills and the confidence to explain complex ideas clearly
18. A collaborative mindset, with a genuine interest in supporting colleagues and sharing knowledge
19. The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards
We would also encourage applications from candidates who perhaps do not possess all the attributes and experience listed above but are competent with the majority and would be able to quickly develop the additional skills and experience required in post with our full support. We would also love to hear about other knowledge and experience you may have that is not listed but could be of interest.
In addition to a competitive salary and access to our profit share scheme, we offer:
20. A flexible selection of employee benefits, so you can choose a package that best matches your lifestyle and needs.
21. A collaborative and encouraging work environment where your thinking and ideas are encouraged.
22. On site mental health and wellbeing assistance.
23. A commitment to helping you develop both personally and professionally, with mentoring opportunities and access to our award-winning learning portal, Aspire.
24. Regular social activities, in addition to three days paid volunteering leave each year and a day’s leave to celebrate your birthday.
25. Hybrid working so you can enjoy the positive wellbeing of working from home as well as the benefits of meeting colleagues in our sociable, modern office environments – with the expectation of two ‘in-office’ days per week.
26. A flexible working window, allowing colleagues the freedom to work flexibly between the hours of 7am and 7pm.
Please note, we recruit on a rolling basis so early applications are recommended to avoid disappointment.
