General Licensing team is based at Shearbridge Depot, providing a vital service to the district. They are looking for a permanent Enforcement Officer to join our dedicated Licensing team. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.

Main Responsibilities
• Assist in the enforcement of statutory and local licensing requirements, regulations and conditions.
• Provide advice and support to members of the public, elected members and external partners, while operating with the terms of UK GDPR
• Deal with licensees, prospective licensees and members of the public in a fair, firm and professional manner, providing help and guidance as appropriate.
• Undertake field based enforcement to ensure compliance with various licensing schemes within the remit of the service and the timely payment of fees and charges in relation to all licensable activities.
Essential Skills
•Able to apply legislative and technical understanding to a wide variety of licence or registration applications.
•Effectively carries out the working practices, procedures and basic operations
•associated with a regulatory environment e.g. licensing and enforcement, in an area of
•substantial complexity applying regulations, rules, policies, procedures and processes
•across a specialist area.
•Able to provide clear verbal and written high level technical advice to a wide range of specialist and non-specialist audiences to assist clients to comply with legislative requirements.
•Able to diffuse difficult and potentially harmful situations and work with a diverse group of people in the community.
•Able to demonstrate an understanding of, and participation in, risk based pro-active inspection programmes.
•Able to prepare prosecution files in accordance with relevant codes of practice and standards and attend at courts, act as a competent person/witness on behalf of the Council in court proceedings tribunals and appeals.
•Able to investigate complaints and requests, demonstrating a high level of initiative, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Able to work effectively in order to achieve agreed outcomes with partner organisations, stakeholders, professionals from other disciplines and council members.
•Must demonstrate having experience with maintaining records and accurate data.
•Extensive experience of working in a regulatory & customer focused,
•service delivery environment.
•Able to prioritise own workload and meet targets within statutory and other deadlines.
•In particular ability to plan, priorities and manage a heavy workload from a variety of
•sources while maintaining a high standard of quality and working under time constraints.
