Description DP World London Gateway are recruiting an Trainee Occupational Health Advisor to join our team at our port in Stanford-le-hope. This is a developmental role initially, which, once experienced and qualified, will develop into a full in-house Occupational Health Advisor role. We expect this to take at least 1-2 years, depending on experience. The intention is for the role holder to learn through a variety of shadowing, external courses and qualifications and on the job knowledge (company funded) to become a qualified and experienced OHA in industry; with the ambition for this role to become the longer-term successor for our current OHA. The role will support and learn the provision of in-house clinical Occupational Health expertise. How will you contribute: Shadow and support with the following, considering and in line with, company standards, legislation, H&S guidance, Risk Assessments and other evidence-based information as required to deliver a professional, collaborative and comprehensive service. Safety Critical Periodic Medicals Safety Critical Pre-employment Medicals Health Surveillance, including Audio, Spirometry, HAVS Tier 1-2, Skin Management Referrals (Case Work) Drug & Alcohol Testing Health promotion initiatives Provide OH expertise and advice to the business, employees and other departments Support the development and review of Risk Assessments, Policies, Clinical Governance and other health and wellbeing related initiatives Support outcomes of DSE assessments and appropriate recommendations What will you Bring. Some post registration general nursing experience At least a current NMC Level 1 Registration Must be prepared to undergo (company funded) and complete OH qualifications and training courses Researched knowledge of undertaking health surveillance such as audiometry, spirometry, HAVS etc., and undertaking safety critical medicals such as forklift truck, working at height and confined space etc. A proactive and collaborative mindset, attention to detail and demonstratable experience in practical problem solving. Solid understanding of Health and Safety, risk assessment, clinical audit, research, evidence-based practice within clinical setting and policy/procedural development. Demonstrable experience and comfortable using IT systems; including MS Office, OH/Medical systems. Be able to provide evidence of meeting regulatory (i.e. recent and relevant) CPD/revalidation requirements. The ability to work autonomously and proactively, using your own initiative, but able to seek further evidence or guidance as needed. To demonstrate effective time management and organisational skills during management of own workload, maintaining compliance and clinical priorities with high volumes of workload. Excellent communication skills, imparting sensitive information, both written and verbally to clients, managers and other professionals whilst maintaining confidentiality boundaries Due to site location, your own vehicle and transport is required, along with a valid driving licence for the UK.
