We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced and enthusiastic Occupational Health & Safety Advisor to join our team at the DM Beith site. As a top tier Major Accident Control Regulation (MACR) site, DM Beith operates specialised explosives processing facilities and numerous storage houses under rigorous Safe Systems of Work. These systems ensure the safe storage, handling, and processing of materials, effectively managing and mitigating associated explosives, chemical, and fuel hazards. As a safety professional working on site, you will find the role varied with a wide range of safety activities to both challenge and provide development opportunities, which would be fully supported by the business. We are seeking a technically capable and enthusiastic Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to lead and coordinate site-level assurance on emergency preparedness meeting regulatory compliance within a major accident hazard environment. You will provide guidance and advice to the Head of Establishment and other departments on site in ensuring Major Accident Prevention arrangements and environmental protection are operating effectively and assured. This will require engagement with Local Authority emergency planners as well as Defence Regulators. Please note : This role is based fully on-site with the 37 hours being covered over 4.5 days meaning Fridays will be a half day. Part time working requests will be considered if they can be combined to make a 1 FTE. You will also benefit from free on-site parking. What youll be doing Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of the sites Major Accident Prevention Plan and supporting Safety Management System arrangements. Ensure compliance and assurance with MACR, COMAH-equivalent requirements, and UK health, safety and environmental legislation through inspection and audit. Coordinate and support emergency preparedness and response arrangements, including planning and delivery of site emergency exercises as well as liaison with external stakeholders. Act as the site Environmental Focal Point and Pollution Control Officer, leading on Environmental assurance, compliance monitoring, incident response and statutory reporting. Conduct investigations and providelearning from experience. Provide competent H&S advice to the Head of Establishment, operational teams, and other site senior managers by review and assure safety-critical documentation, including, Risk assessments, Safety reports, emergency arrangements and Environmental protection controls. Person specification To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria : NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent level 3 qualification. Must have relevant work experience in a similar role.
