To assist in the efficient delivery of the Council Tax and Business Rates Services in line with legislation and Council policy. To maintain a high standard of customer care whilst ensuring collection targets can be achieved.

The Council Tax Team are responsible for billing and collecting Council Tax, ensuring residents are billed accurately and that payments are made on time.
We are recruiting to a new Pre-Recovery Team, focused on taking a different approach to recovery - engaging with customers earlier, having better conversations, and preventing accounts from escalating.
About the role:
This is a new and exciting opportunity to be part of a team that is focused on making a real difference.
Reporting to the Council Tax Supervisor, you will work proactively with customers who have fallen behind with payments, supporting them at an early stage before formal recovery action is taken.
The role will involve:
• Proactively contacting customers who have missed payments
• Identifying vulnerability and offering appropriate support
• Signposting to relevant services where needed
• Taking action to prevent cases progressing to summons and further recovery
This role is about early intervention, problem solving and reducing the need for enforcement, while still ensuring the Council collects what is owed.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience in Council Tax or a revenues environment
• Is confident having open and sometimes challenging conversations
• Can balance a supportive approach with the need to collect debt
• Is proactive and solution-focused
• Is motivated by making a difference and improving outcomes for customers
