Service care solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded Local Authority in Cheshire for an experienced Planning & Highways Solicitor to join their Legal Services team on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor, barrister, or legal executive with strong experience in planning and highways law to support a busy local government legal department. The role offers flexible hybrid working, with the majority of duties able to be undertaken remotely. Location: Cheshire / Predominantly Remote Working Umbrella Rate: £50 - £55 per hour Umbrella PAYE Rate: £44.06 - £48.41 per hour PAYE, inclusive of holiday pay Duration: 3-5 months rolling Key Responsibilities as a Planning and Highway Solicitor: Advising officers, members, and committees on planning and highways law matters. Managing a caseload of complex planning and highways matters from instruction through to completion. Drafting and negotiating legal agreements, including Section 106 Agreements, Highway Agreements, and related documentation. Providing legal support for planning appeals, enforcement matters, and judicial review proceedings. About you as a Planning and Highway Solicitor: Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a current practising certificate. Previous experience handling planning and highways law matters, ideally within a Local Authority setting. Strong knowledge of local government law and procedures.
