Offer description

Permanent, Part Time (21.5 per week, Tues 8.30am-5pm, Wed and Fri 9am-5pm) About the role Here at Joseph Rowntree Trust, we are seeking an HR Assistant – someone to deliver group HR services that are efficient and effective, delivering great services in transactional HR processing across the full employee lifecycle. In this busy and varied role, you’ll provide day-to-day HR and recruitment administration support, ensuring employee records are accurate and up to date across our HR/Payroll systems. You will assist with new starters, contractual changes, absence management and reporting, while supporting wider HR projects such as annual pay awards and employee benefits. You will help maintain compliance by ensuring right to work, DBS and reference checks are completed, conduct regular data audits, and keep all employee files accurate and compliant. Acting as a first point of contact for general enquiries, you will provide clear guidance on policies and procedures and support effective employee communication. About you As our HR Assistant, you will have strong experience in HR administration within a busy environment and a sound understanding of employment legislation. You will be confident using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as HR software systems and electronic diary management tools. With excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines, you will have strong communication skills and the capacity to build effective relationships at all levels across the organisation. A high level of attention to detail, together with solid literacy and numeracy skills, is also required. We are looking for someone with a positive, friendly approach and strong interpersonal skills, who takes pride in providing a professional and supportive service. The role requires initiative, proactivity, flexibility, and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in all aspects of work. How to apply If you share our passion and this role sounds like you, then we’re looking forward to hearing from you. Please submit your CV and supporting information via our online application platform. The closing date for applications is 24th November 2025. Interviews will take place tbc. We reserve the right to bring the closing date forward should enough quality applications be received prior to the current closing date. Additional Information Applications are welcome from all, regardless of age, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, race, sex, sexual orientation, trans status or socioeconomic background. We positively encourage applications from people from marginalised backgrounds, including but not limited to those with experience of living in poverty. We are committed to being an anti-racist organisation and operate an anonymised recruitment process so that bias is eliminated from the shortlisting process. In support of our approach to flexible working, we are happy to receive applications from those seeking full-time employment, as well as those who may want to share the role on a part-time basis. When making your application, please state whether you want to be considered for either full or part-time work and, if part-time, the number of hours per week you would be looking for. At JRF we’re at our best when we’re continually building on trust, showing we care and making a difference – and hope others will do the same. So, for those roles which allow it, we’re developing a more blended approach to how and where you work. This means you can expect to work flexibly between the office and home (with an expectation of two days a week in your home office). We are a Disability Confident Employer. This means that we are committed to the recruitment, progression and retention of disabled individuals. We shall also offer interviews to disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the job. If you have a disability, please tell us if you would like to be considered for an interview under the Disability Confident Scheme. If you have any additional needs and need reasonable adjustments to be made to the interview process, please let us know
