About this role: Candidates will be working with children between the age of 4 to 19 this school is seeking a full-time support assistant who has experience with working with student with extra support within the classroom. They will need to be able to work with minimum supervision but with detailed guideline set out by the learning mentor who will be having regular meetings with the candidate to discuss their progression For the students to reach their greatest potential within the school, you are expected to work with the class teacher to ensure the student is receiving the support needed within the class and to promote the student’s independence and encourage social inclusion with the class. It is required of candidates to work with the student individually and within a groups allowing them to take part within the class. The candidate will also be expected to help with planning and finding resources to help the student. You will work with a welcoming, close-knit community that values collaboration to guarantee best practices and uniformity in all classrooms.

A successful candidate for this position will have a level 2/3 in supporting teaching and learning in schools, Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, or other relevant qualification in childcare (or willingness to work towards a qualification if not already held) minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children preferably with an SEN child with also experience of planning and leading a lesson if needed (under supervision) and an ability to implement behavioural and emotional management with the child, demonstrate an informed and efficient approach to teaching and learning by adopting relevant strategies to support the work of the teacher and increase achievement of all pupils including, where appropriate, those with special educational needs and disabilities. Candidates should also be confident in their ability to teach the material to the student and be able to find resources to help the student to feel a sense of achievement ahead of time for various year groups. Finally, candidates should be familiar with the current curriculum and understand what kind of support the students will need before class to ensure that they meet their goals for the term.
