Overview
To participate in the provision of the in-house FM services to a specified area within the Trust, which may include in-patient wards, admin/clinical areas and retail outlets. The FM services comprise cleaning, catering, portering, bed making and laundering services; some services are unit specific. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for patients, trust staff and visitors in line with the National Standards of Cleanliness. As part of the Facilities Team you are expected to have a flexible approach, excellent interpersonal and customer skills, and the ability to use a degree of initiative to prioritise and organise your duties. If you're shortlisted for this role, your interview will take place on 30 September 2025. Domestic Service including Rapid Response (CAT).
* Undertake a variety of cleaning duties including vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing and mopping floors; high/low dusting; cleaning surfaces, mirrors, chairs, bed frames, bins, sani-bins, toilets, sinks, baths and showers; cleaning cookers, regeneration ovens, fridges/freezers (defrosting regularly), microwaves and other kitchen items; restocking consumables (toilet tissue, hand towels, soap); descaling taps and replacing bin liners. (Provided they have not been soiled with body fluids)
* Report to the supervisor any problems with floor coverings or surfaces that may affect cleaning ability.
* Use correct colour-coded equipment (mops, cloths, buckets, etc.) and keep all equipment clean, safe and tidy.
* Operate machinery/equipment (eg vacuums, dishwashers, ovens) safely; report faults promptly; use equipment only for its intended task; follow safety signs and use circuit breakers where appropriate.
* Ensure recyclables, general waste and clinical waste are disposed of/ stored/ segregated in accordance with Trust policy.
Collaboration and Scheduling
Work with your supervisor and other interested parties when the work schedule for your area is reviewed to ensure it is manageable and appropriate. Inform your supervisor of any problems with floor coverings, surfaces or other factors that could impact cleaning. Use only color-coded mops, cloths, and buckets assigned to your area and store or dispose of them properly to prevent cross-infection. Report deterioration of product quality or unexpected substitutions to your supervisor. Ensure that cleaning materials and disposables are used economically. Chemicals used are the ones provided by the Trust and are used as trained. Ensure all equipment and cleaning materials are stored securely and report any security concerns or unlocked storerooms at the start of your shift. Dispose of general waste, recyclables and clinical waste correctly and alert your supervisor to any mis-segregation or disposal issues.
