Primary Teaching Assistant – Portsmouth (PO1) Pay: £13.75 per hour Contract: Full-time, Term-time only Start Date: September 2025 Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a Primary Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Portsmouth (PO1) starting this September. About the role: You will work closely with the class teacher to support children’s learning, both in class and through small group work. Your responsibilities will include: Supporting pupils to complete their work and understand new topics Running small group sessions in key subjects like maths and reading Providing tailored support for pupils with additional needs Helping to prepare resources, displays, and teaching materials Encouraging a positive classroom atmosphere and promoting good behaviour Supporting school activities and events when required What we’re looking for: Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school environment Strong communication skills and a positive attitude Patience, flexibility, and the ability to work as part of a team An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply) This role offers a great chance to gain school-based experience and make a positive impact on pupils’ education.
