Responsible for performing various patient care activities and related non-professional services to care for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and observe all hospital policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
1. Provide general patient care and perform routine treatments and procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse.
2. Assist with personal hygiene to promote patient comfort and well-being.
3. Check and record intake and output as ordered.
4. Take and record patient vital signs and other measurements as indicated.
5. Administer enemas, reinforce simple non-sterile dressings, apply binders, collect specimens, apply heat or cold devices, and perform other routine tasks.
6. Assist the RN in caring for seriously ill patients or in complicated treatments or procedures.
7. Help maintain a safe and clean environment with well-stocked supplies and functioning equipment.
8. Maintain patient medical records in an orderly manner, documenting all care provided and significant information legibly, accurately, and completely.
9. Observe assigned patients and report any problems, changes in condition, or unexpected occurrences to RN/Team Leader.
10. Attend seminars and inservices to stay current with specialty knowledge.
11. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
* Vocational/Technical training and more than six months of job-related experience or equivalent.
* RI State Nursing Assistant license required.
