We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic doctor to become the Whipps Cross Hospital Lead for National safety standards for invasive procedures (NATSSIPS) and also be part of the Patient safety team implementing and helping to embed PSIRF (Patient Safety Incident Response Framework).

Main duties of the job
You will be part of a team that is implementing the Trust’s patient safety strategy that is aligned with the national safety strategy and the implementation of PSIRF.
Thanks to a passionate and driven Lead, NatSSIP’s are embedded in clinical practice, there is an ongoing need to provide assurance and support teams in ensuring that we always adhere to safe practices.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, passionate about all things safety and able to compassionately influence teams.
The job description is attached with information on role expectations and a time commitment of 1 PA/week fixed term for 2 years.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. MBBS
2. Consultant on the specialist register or SAS doctor with a minimum of 6 years’ experience
3. Full GMC Registration with License to Practise
Desirable criteria
4. Quality Improvement training.
Experience
Essential criteria
5. Wide experience in Patient Safety activities
6. Experience in delivering change in complex clinical systems
7. Ability to provide senior leadership and work with senior leaders
8. Enthusiasm and interest in ensuring others are trained and developed in patient safety, as appropriate.
9. Experience with NatSSIP’s 1 and 2 in practice
Desirable criteria
10. Level 1 and 2 PSIRF training
11. Evidence of understanding risk management systems to promote insights and informed decision making focused on improving patient safety.
12. Delivering training in patient Safety.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
13. Broad knowledge of Patient safety science and its implementation
Desirable criteria
14. Evidence of higher knowledge in specific areas e.g Human factors training, GIRFT, data analyses
Skills
Essential criteria
15. Strong leadership and engagement skills
16. Programme leadership and improvement experience
17. Ability to analyse complex information (including patient safety incident data, administrative data, mortality data).
