Our client, who are based in the Central Belt and are a global leader in flow control solutions, is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to manage all assigned Valve & Actuator refurbishment projects within the Valve Service Department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Be a focal point for the successful delivery of assigned projects as the central point of coordination of all activities
* Manage all assigned projects.
* Manage Valve Workshop Overhauls for station outages, liaising with customers and site staff as required.
* Liaise with Workshop Manager, Project Manager(s) & Site Managers to ensure WIP is coordinated and reported appropriately.
* Form relationships with key decision makers in customer organisations.
* Promote and develop new and existing valve and associated coatings business throughout the UK, carrying out site visits to client as required.
* Liaise with other departmental managers and project planners to monitor and control current and future workloads.
* Work with Tendering function to prepare costing and work plans for quotations and tenders.
* Manage contract costs against budget to maximise profit.
* Manage tracking, progress reporting and issue identification.
* Problem solving to hit deadlines / OTD.
* Arrange & manage sub-contractors / services as required.
* Requisition and coordinate materials and spares.
* Liaise with customers and other stakeholders on all contract matters.
* Provide timely progress reports, as required, to customers and management.
* Actively participate in creating a positive culture relative to achieving departmental goals.
* Ensure customer satisfaction by achieving on time delivery targets and minimising customer complaints and rework activities.
* Work in conjunction with the Workshop Supervisor in the forward planning for the Valve Workshop, allocating work to team members and ensure on time completion of reports, assembly, components & tests to meet departmental KPI’s.
* Work with the Workshop Supervisor in ensuring workload is correctly scheduled to optimise utilisation of Workshop personnel, maintaining best OTD to customers.
* Prepare all workshop documentation for overhaul of various types of valves, etc.
* Work with the Workshop Supervisor for the preparation and close-out of detailed inspection reports including QA documentation to the customer.
* Liaise with and encourage team members to focus on achievement of all daily / weekly objectives. Build team spirit and positive attitudes.
* Assist with the training and development of new / junior members of the Valve Service team.
* Ensure all Health & Safety procedures & working practices are adhered to and applied within area of responsibility. Be proactive in reporting and resolving any concerns and participate in the investigation & reporting of accidents & incidents, where applicable whilst encouraging the team to do the same.
* Participate in development and implementation of all improvement activities which relate to area of responsibility, as required by the Production System, by being proactive in the reporting and resolution of Non-Conformances (NC’s) & Opportunities for Improvement (OFI’s) and Re-work and encourage the team to do the same by way of employee engagement conversations.
* Attend WIP meetings as required.
* Participate in / lead Customer Audits.
* Be flexible in working approach to take on additional tasks and responsibilities and provide cover for the Workshop Manager & Workshop Supervisor, as required.
* Support extended week day and weekend working hours during busy periods as required, where possible.
Requirements:
* Time served engineer / technician.
* Machining and fitting experience.
* Valve or actuator repair experience.
