Salary: Up to £26,000.00 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

About the Role
The Wellbeing Support Assistant plays a vital role in promoting the welfare, emotional development and positive behaviour of all pupils. Working under the guidance of the Assistant Headteacher, Clinical Lead and Speech and Language Therapist, you will deliver targeted wellbeing and therapeutic support that enables students to engage successfully in school life. This role requires flexibility, resilience and a calm, professional approach, modelling best practice while ensuring that all interventions align with school policies and GDPR requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Therapeutic & Intervention Support: Deliver tailored programmes and therapeutic interventions to individuals, small groups or whole classes, under the direction of therapists and senior leaders.
* Wellbeing Planning & Risk Management: Contribute to and implement Wellbeing Support Plans (WSPs) and Level 2 Risk Assessments (2RAs), working collaboratively with staff, parents and external professionals to maximise impact.
* Crisis & Behaviour Support: Provide on-call support throughout the school day, manage escalating behaviours (including restrictive physical intervention where required), and facilitate post-incident debriefs.
* Communication & Record Keeping: Maintain clear, timely communication with parents, carers and multi-agency professionals, and accurately record behaviour and safeguarding concerns using school systems.
* Curriculum Access & Inclusion: Enable pupils to access learning by updating visual supports, adapting environments and ensuring spaces are physically and visually accessible.
* Outreach & Off-Site Support: Deliver interventions as part of outreach programmes and support educational visits, including completing and adhering to risk assessments.
* Resource Development & Compliance: Maintain and develop wellbeing resources, ensure safe use of accommodation for crisis management, and uphold confidentiality and GDPR standards at all times.

* Passionate about supporting the emotional wellbeing, development and inclusion of children and young people.
* Knowledge and understanding of SEND and safeguarding responsibilities within an educational setting.
* Calm, resilient and able to respond professionally to challenging situations and escalating behaviours.

* Organised with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
* Able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team while also using own initiative.
* Confident communicating with pupils, families, colleagues and external professionals.
* Strong attention to detail with accurate record keeping and respect for confidentiality and GDPR requirements.
* Flexible and adaptable, able to respond to the changing needs of pupils and the school environment.
* Full UK Driving Licence essential.
* GCSE English and Maths Grade A–C (or equivalent) essential.

Mountfield Heath School caters for autistic boys and girls aged 5–11, many of whom have additional needs. Our independent special educational needs provision currently supports 44 pupils, increasing to 45 in January, on a spacious site with large classrooms and dedicated outdoor learning areas.
