East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) are welcoming applications from experienced qualified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).

You will be joining a workforce recognised for delivering outstanding care to our patients, where teamwork and quality is embedded into our day-to-day practice. Main duties of the job

At EEAST we expect our clinical workforce to continue to deliver CQC rated ‘good’ care to our patients and work harmoniously alongside our dedicated team of clinical staff, volunteers, call handlers and dispatchers and support services, whilst striving for outstanding care, exceptional people, every hour of every day in line with our vision. Paramedics will routinely work with other Allied Health Professionals in partnership organisations in both hospital and community-based services to ensure sage referrals and discharge.

A shift on an ambulance is like no other workplace. You will operate in a wide range of environments, across both urban and rural areas managing everything from birth to end of life, chronic conditions to critical illness or injury.

Upon successful completion of your application and pre employment checks you will be invited to attend a two week induction at one of our Education Training Centres followed by a supportive local induction at your allocated locality.

Please note: During the training course it is your responsibility to attend in full, on each day. Accommodation and travel expenses will not be provided so you will need to consider the costs and travel expense of attending. Where possible candidates will be allocated to the training centre nearest to their operational base.

Working for our organisation

EEAST employs over 5,000 staff with a further 1,000+ volunteers who between them cover 7,500 square miles and care for a population of more than 6 million.

Our three control rooms in Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Essex handle more than 1 million 999 calls every year, over 2,500 calls a day.

We manage a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles including double staffed ambulances, rapid response cars, operational commander response vehicles, patient transport and support service vehicles.

The East of England works alongside 17 Acute Trusts with Accident & Emergency services and a Major Trauma Centre in Cambridge. Access is available to neighbouring MTCs such as those in London.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To apply you will have undertaken and completed BTEC Level 3 or IHCD Ambulance Aid Award, FREC Level 5, or a FAQ Level 4 – Diploma for Associate Ambulance Practitioners. You will also be expected to provide a portfolio detailing your experience of working within the emergency ambulance service.

Staff must be able to evidence an existing full C1 licence and completion of an Emergency Response Driving Qualification at point of application.

Essential criteria

8. BTEC level 3 in Ambulance Aid (or IHCD Ambulance Aid Award) or FREC level 5 in addition produce portfolio to demonstrate competencies in FREC levels 3 & 4 OR FAQ Level 4 – Diploma for Associate Ambulance Practitioners
9. Evidence of ongoing personal development within the last 5 years
10. Full UK driving licence with Full C1 category with 2 years driving experience (maximum of 3 penalty points for minor driving offences) (Maximum of 6 penalty points for SP30 offences)
11. Emergency Response Driving Qualification

Desirable criteria

12. European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent.
13. Personal development certified by an awarding body

14. Awareness of the role of the current Ambulance Technician

You will be required to hold a full UK manual driving licence with a minimum of 1 years driving experience (maximum of 3 penalty points for minor motoring offences only).

Occupational Health:
Applicants are advised that EEAST adheres to the recommendations of the Department of Health Medical Advisory Panel relating to health standards for frontline emergency response roles. Please refer to DVLA Assessing fitness to drive – a guide for medical professionals, for detailed information.

Disclosure and Barring Service check:
This position involves regulated activity which will require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at enhanced level with child and adult barred list check.
