Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to work in our team of Geomatics Analysts. You will be working as part of a small team processing survey data to support the delivery of our National Elevation Data Programmes, using specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from our Remote Sensing survey instrumentation including our Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.
Responsibilities
* Process and quality control data from Remote Sensing survey instrumentation, including Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.
* Assist in collection and analysis of high-quality LiDAR, aerial photography, bathymetry and satellite data.
* Support the delivery of monitoring requirements in collaboration with National & Area teams.
* Work with the Geomatics team to enable effective evidence for the business and wider environmental community.
Experience / Qualifications
* Relevant degree level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with an understanding of operational applications.
* Practical GIS skills using ESRI products (ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap) and experience working with large and complex mapping datasets, preferably Airborne LiDAR.
* Experience processing and carrying out quality control procedures on LiDAR datasets and LiDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models is advantageous.
* Experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical and problem-solving skills, and good attention to detail.
* Good organisational skills, high motivation, professional attitude, and ability to communicate effectively; able to work unsupervised at times to meet deadlines.
Other Information
* The National Monitoring Survey team is a national team located at various sites; you can be based anywhere within working proximity to an EA office.
* You may be required to travel to the Geomatics team hub base in Bath when required and may need to come into an EA office to meet team needs. The post is full-time, with flexible working patterns considered.
* Interviews will be in-person at Bath and will include a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.
* Length of contract: 17 months – Up to March 2027.
