About the vacancy:
Our residents are at the heart of everything we do, and you will provide housing related support and money advice services to enable residents to take on and sustain a tenancy to prevent homelessness, liaising with internal colleagues and external partners to ensure any support needs are addressed.
You will be responsible for providing advice, guidance, assistance, and support to residents on a wide range of financial and tenancy management issues, to enable residents to sustain their tenancies and live independently in their homes.
Specifically, the Housing Support Advisor will:
* This role supports residents to deal with issues that may threaten their tenancy or housing status, especially with matters regarding money advice, household management, health and wellbeing and anti-social behaviour.
* You will give advice, guidance, assistance, and support to residents about welfare benefits and income maximisation, access to grants and statutory benefits and ensure residents are not financially excluded
* You will advocate and negotiate on behalf of Hedyn and its residents with the relevant statutory authorities on individual cases up to and including representation at First Tier Tribunal in respect of a wide range of welfare benefits
* You will be responsible for the management of decants to residents who need to move temporarily or permanently from their home in an emergency situation
* You will encourage residents to fully participate in their community and to engage with the services available to them. You will work with neighbourhood and other teams to identify residents who would benefit from welfare advice-and support
* You will regularly visit residents and provide support, information, advice and other help to enable residents in the pre- and post- tenancy stages of their resettlement
* You will establish networks with advisors both internally and externally, identifying and replicating good practice initiatives in the sector that address and mitigate the effects and risks of welfare reform for both Hedyn and its residents
* You will collect and record residents data
* You will respond proactively to resident complaints
* You must have experience of working in a money advice role, with a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of welfare benefits, financial inclusion and specific support issues faced by vulnerable groups. You will have a positive attitude and total commitment to delivering great customer service.
