We're looking for an enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer to join our Food & Safety Team, helping to protect communities and support local businesses across Swale, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells. This is a dynamic, varied role where you'll combine regulation, advice and partnership working to drive high standards in food safety and workplace health.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out inspections and investigations across a wide range of businesses.
- Supporting businesses with clear, practical advice to achieve compliance.
- Taking enforcement action where needed, including preparing cases and attending court.
- Investigating complaints and public health risks, including infectious disease cases.
- Leading on specialist areas and contributing to service improvement projects.
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent).
- Experience in food safety and health & safety enforcement.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with a range of people.
- Excellent organisation and the ability to manage your own workload.
- A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset and commitment to public health.
- Full UK Driving License and access to a car.

- Financial: An attractive basic salary within a clear pay structure. A starting salary of £44,357 increasing to £45,525 after one year of service and increasing further to £46,692 upon completion of two years in post (subject to managerial approval).
