Jackson Hogg are delighted to be supporting a growing and highly respected marine and offshore engineering consultancy based in Blyth, who are looking to appoint a Senior Engineer.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering the chance to play a key role in delivering complex offshore and marine engineering projects, providing technical leadership, assurance, and hands-on engineering support across a diverse project portfolio.
Responsibilities:
* Act as the technical authority across projects, ensuring engineering solutions are safe, compliant, and fit-for-purpose.
* Lead and oversee engineering activities including structural design, motions analysis, lift planning, and method development.
* Review and approve engineering calculations, reports, and technical documentation in line with industry standards and company procedures.
* Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and operational risks throughout the project lifecycle.
* Provide technical input into tendering, planning, and project execution, supporting both project and commercial teams.
* Attend technical reviews, client meetings, site visits, and offshore/onshore operations when required.
* Deliver practical, real-time problem solving during live operations and high-risk activities.
* Mentor and develop junior engineers, setting expectations around quality, accountability, and engineering best practice.
* Support continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
* Act as a key technical interface with clients, suppliers, and third parties, representing the business at a senior level.
Requirements:
* Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related engineering discipline.
* Proven experience delivering complex engineering solutions within marine/offshore environments.
* Strong hands-on experience with:
* ANSYS (or equivalent FEA software)
* OrcaFlex for static and dynamic marine analysis
* Solid understanding of, Structural and stress analysis
* Experience producing and reviewing Engineering calculations and report
* Strong knowledge of relevant standards (DNV, ISO, API, BS, EN)
* Experience supporting live operations, including high-risk or time-critical activities.
* Confident communicator, able to engage with clients, marine warranty surveyors, and third parties.
* Proven ability to mentor and support engineers.
* Full UK driving licence.
Highly Desirable:
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
* Experience in Offshore cable installation, Heavy lift and transport engineering or Marine operations.
* Exposure to international projects and regulatory environments.
