About the Role
Teach Now is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming Church of England primary school in Mill Hill, Barnet, for a General Teaching Assistant to support a Reception class within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
This full-time, temporary position offers an excellent opportunity for a nurturing and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Early Years team, helping children make a confident and positive start to their school journey. You will work closely with the class teacher to support learning through play, structured activities, and high-quality adult interaction.
Key Responsibilities
• Support whole-class learning, small group work, and one-to-one support across the EYFS curriculum
• Deliver and reinforce daily phonics sessions using the Supersonic Phonics programme
• Promote children’s communication, language, social, and emotional development
• Assist in preparing and maintaining engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and strong learning routines
• Work collaboratively with teachers and Early Years staff to support pupil progress
Requirements
To be eligible for this role, applicants must have:
• Experience working with young children in EYFS or KS1, ideally in a UK primary school
• A good understanding of early phonics, early reading, and basic numeracy
• A caring, patient, and child-centred approach to learning
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Availability to commit to the role for the duration required

Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training such a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
