Overview
This is full time post, but we would consider applicants looking for part time with a minimum of 34.5hrs. This post requires working rotational shifts. Jenny Lind is an 8 bedded acute inpatient ward for older adults with Mental Illness who require in‑patient care, treatment & assessment. The patients admitted often have complex physical health comorbidities. Applicants should have an interest in mental and physical health care delivery. The ward has a multi‑disciplinary team approach to delivering holistic care. This includes Nurses, HCA, Physiotherapists, OT's, Activity support workers, Consultant Psychiatrist & Junior doctors, Psychologists and colleagues in Adult Social Care. Jenny Lind Ward welcomes & supports student nurses/nursing associates as part of our team & you will be expected to supervise/assess students on placement. Jenny Lind Ward operates a rotational shift pattern that covers 24 hours / seven day period. The shift starts at 07:30hrs till 20:00hrs and the night shift at 19:30hrs till 08:00hrs. Responsibilities
Your day will commence with clinical handover from the outgoing shift, you will then plan the day ahead with your team. This will include, allocation of patient care and therapeutic activities, ensuring all activities of daily living are supported in a person centred way, focussing on independence and wellbeing, reviewing care plans and risk assessments, monitoring physical health, medication administration, liaising with the medical and therapy team, discharge planning, MDT meetings and ensuring the Mental Health Act is correctly implemented and adhered to. You will also supervise health care support workers, junior colleagues and Students on placement.
