About the Role
As a Senior Planner you will join a dedicated team delivering high‑quality, customer‑focused Development Management services. You will contribute to the council’s planning objectives, maintain performance standards and work cost‑effectively. The role is hybrid; attendance at the office on fixed days is required and occasional travel outside the borough may be necessary.
Key Responsibilities
* Process a range of planning applications – mainly minor and some small‑scale major cases – in a timely manner, producing robust reports and recommendations.
* Maintain a designated caseload and assess and report on applications and related work appropriate to the grade and responsibility level.
* Prepare reports and attend Planning Committees, presenting to the committee and providing support to the lead planning manager.
* Handle appeals, preparing the council’s case at written representations stage and representing the council at hearings or inquiries.
* Assist the Pre‑App and Fast‑track (PAFT) service by providing pre‑application advice and writing pre‑application reports.
About You
You will have experience handling a mix of minor, small‑scale major, conservation area, Green Belt, complex condition, house conversion, listed building and telecom applications. You will be capable of preparing detailed plans, attending committees and presenting to stakeholders.
