Job Description
New Directions Education are currently recruiting Reading Intervention Assistants to work in primary and secondary schools across Chester. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about literacy and supporting pupils to develop confidence and fluency in reading.
The Role:
• Delivering targeted reading interventions on a 1:1 or small group basis
• Supporting pupils with phonics, reading comprehension, and literacy skills
• Helping to raise attainment and confidence in reading
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
• Encouraging a positive attitude towards reading and learning
• Supporting pupils with additional learning needs or literacy barriers
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Experience supporting reading or literacy interventions (desirable)
• A patient, encouraging, and supportive approach
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with pupils
• A genuine interest in literacy and education
• The ability to motivate and engage learners of different ages
• A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
All applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check and be able to provide appropriate professional references.
