The Role
1. To be observant in helping to reduce/ prevent crime on the UHM Site
2. To assist in providing a safe and secure environment for Patients, Staff, Visitors
3. To undertake regular patrol of the internal and external site of the UHM sites.
4. To provide help and advice to Patients, Visitors and Staff
5. To be an advocate for NHSL whilst undertaking their role.

What we'll need you to bring
6. Level of H&S Knowledge in line with NHSL and departmental policies and (SOP’s)
7. Communication skills that are supportive, empathetic, compassionate and have the ability to de-escalate difficult conversations
8. Knowledge of site lay out
9. Basic knowledge of CCTV
10. Requires a professional and sympathetic approach to people
11. To be physically fit and be able to understand and react correctly and quickly to incidents remaining competent under pressure.
12. Use of communication equipment
13. Use of monitoring systems
14. Completion of mandatory training as specified within core competencies
15. Must be capable of writing accurate reports
16. Violence and aggression Training – Level 1 &2
17. Enhanced Disclosure Scotland clearance
18. To be competent in the use of all department equipment/ personal protective equipment
19. Whilst it would be an advantage for new members to have had previous experience in the security industry, it is not essential.
20. All staff will be required to undertake on the job training.
All staff must successfully complete the training.
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
21. Good standards of general education incorporating: Literacy, Numeracy and Manual Dexterity
22. Recognised SVQ or equivalent qualification relating to post
23. Keen to learn and willing to complete statutory and departmental training
24. Whilst it would be an advantage for new members to have had previous experience in the security industry, it is not essential
25. Demonstrable experience in a busy hospital environment
26. Understanding of the principles of Health and Safety
27. Understanding of the principles of general security duties
28. Knowledge of systems, processes and security
29. Ability to follow instructions, policies and procedures
30. Good Interpersonal Skills
31. Ability to work alone or part of a team
32. Competence in completion of documentation
33. Understanding of Information Technology
34. Ability to work and communicate with patients/public
35. Flexible attitude
36. Calm under pressure
37. Excellent personal appearance and disposition
38. Willingness to learn

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Security within University Hospital Monklands
The working pattern for this role: The post is working on a rotational 2 days 1900-0700 to cover the service.
