Cushman & Wakefield seeks an ambitious Rating Technician to join our Commercial Real Estate team in Birmingham. It is ideal for a recent graduate, early‑career professional with strong research, data analysis, and organisational skills. It is also open to a candidate with rating experience who is seeking to progress their career in business rates and become a Chartered Surveyor. You will support the rating and valuation processes for a range of commercial properties, with a focus on office assets, by gathering market data, analysing comparables, and assisting in the preparation of reports and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
* Data Research & Market Analysis
o Conduct property and market research using platforms such as CoStar and office agency websites.
o Identify and analyse comparable properties and transaction data to support valuation and rating decisions, including property asset inspections as required.
o Track market trends, rental levels, relevant to commercial assets.
* Rating & Valuation Support
o Assist in applying internal rating models and valuation frameworks to commercial real estate assets.
o Collate key documents including lease abstracts, floor plans, rent rolls, and financial statements.
o Support the production of client‑ready reports and internal summaries.
* Documentation & Data Management
o Maintain organised digital records of data sources, comparables, and valuation support material.
o Input and update property and financial data into internal systems and Excel models.
* Presentation Support
o Assist in creating PowerPoint presentations for internal stakeholders and client meetings.
o Help ensure data and visuals are accurate, professional, and aligned with brand standards.
Skills & Experience
* Has excellent research skills and can quickly source and verify property and market data.
* Is confident using CoStar and navigating commercial real estate websites (preferred not mandatory).
* Understands the basics of valuation and property analysis, particularly for office assets.
* Is comfortable analysing comparables and extracting insights from property data.
* Can efficiently collate and organise documents to support senior team members.
* Is proficient in Microsoft Excel (formulas, tables) and PowerPoint (presentations and formatting).
* Has strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
* Has a valid UK driving licence.
* Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Geography, or a related field (recent graduates and / or candidates with some business rate experience encouraged to apply).
* Internship or coursework related to commercial real estate, property research, or finance is a plus.
