Locum Consultant in Orthopaedics

Applicants are sought for a 6‑month, full‑time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in Arthroplasty and Soft Tissue Knee.
The post involves working at Scunthorpe Hospital, the Princess of Wales Hospital and Goole Hospital.
The basic job plan will comprise 11.13 PA's with a 1:7 on‑call pattern.
Main duties
The successful candidate will manage acute and chronic soft‑tissue knee conditions such as multi‑ligament injuries, meniscal tears, isolated ligament injuries and patellofemoral instability. They will also handle young‑adult knee degenerative conditions, including cartilage procedures and osteotomy. Some cases are tertiary referrals from neighbouring NHS trusts.
An additional knee and soft‑tissue knee surgeon will work alongside the candidate.

Person Specification
All
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Full GMC Registration.
* Programme of training acceptable to the Royal College of Surgeons for Consultant status.
* ATLS or equivalent; provider of relevant specialty clinical knowledge, clinical judgement and practical skills.
* Engagement in job planning, teamwork, service development, supervision of SAS groups/trainees/juniors, and trust/departmental policies.
* Knowledge of GIRFT Principles, clinical governance, audit participation, and teaching.
* A higher surgical qualification such as FRCS‑T&O or equivalent.
* ATLS Instructor and PALS certification.
