About the Role
As the Corporate Information Governance Advisor, you will provide expert support and advice to and on behalf of the Data Protection Officer (DPO), ensuring the Council processes personal data in full compliance with the relevant legislation. You will lead the DPO Support Team and act as a senior advisor on strategic information governance issues, contributing to corporate projects and policy development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead, manage, and develop the DPO Support Team.
2. Provide expert advice and deputise for the DPO on data protection matters.
3. Oversee the Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) process.
4. Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and training to ensure compliance with legislation including GDPR, FOI, and Records Management.
5. Act as a senior advisor on strategic information governance issues at corporate meetings and projects.
6. Support Information Governance Leads and contribute to the Information Governance Risk Register.
7. Drive innovation relating to information governance processes.
