Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Electrician to join our MoJ account in HMP Nottingham. The standard hours are 39 hours per week (across 7 days with a weekend shift pattern).
Responsibilities
* Planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
* Diagnosing and replacing failed domestic electrical components.
* Responding to breakdowns, ensuring all works are carried out under the Safe System of Work and in a timely manner.
* Fault finding and problem solving on domestic electrical systems across the prison.
* Undertaking electrical installation activities in accordance with the provided design and IET Wiring Regulations.
* Testing and inspecting electrical installations in accordance with current IEE wiring regulations.
* Monitoring and ordering critical spares for all electrical services.
* Other tasks as required by the Site.
* Support local and business zero carbon programmes, working toward zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner where appropriate.
* Ensure health and safety standards are achieved across the contract.
What makes this role unique
You will test and inspect electrical installations across prison facilities in accordance with the 18th IEE wiring regulations as amended from time to time. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
Requirements
* JIB ECS Gold Card graded as Installation or Maintenance Electrician OR AM2 with NVQ level 3 or above.
* BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition.
* Experience with electrical maintenance activities, general distribution and installation and testing.
* Knowledge of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Capable of working at heights and able to work alone using initiative.
* Ideally qualified in the 18th Edition; if currently only 17th Edition, Amey can sponsor upgrading (terms apply).
Desirable: IT skills and experience in fire alarm systems and CCTV systems; development will be provided to reach required competency.
