Introduction
The Hursley Laboratory is home to some of IBM's core products including CICS, MQ, App Connect, Cloud Pak for Integration, Event Automation and Spectrum Virtualize, which runs on FlashSystems and San Volume Controller Storage CEPH.
We are currently recruiting early professionals to join teams which work on some of the products listed above. Our teams employ agile development practices with all team members actively engaged in the planning, development, testing and usability related tasks owned and delivered by their 'Delivery Team'. Preferred candidates will need to be enthusiastic, highly motivated team players who have software skills/experience and demonstrate a genuine desire and aptitude to perform the multi-disciplinary activities inherent in a Software Engineering role. The work performed will have a high degree of technical content, is diverse and challenging yet always rewarding.
Your Role And Responsibilities
Successful candidates will have strong coding skills, a desire to learn full stack development, including but not limited to DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Feature Development & Test, WebUI and Customer Support. Candidates should also be comfortable working as part of a global team and possess good verbal & written communication skills. Most of our teams now have AI usage either as part of the product or in the tooling used by the team to develop the product. This is a key focus area and any knowledge or experience with AI will be valuable to all teams in the lab.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise
A working knowledge of C, Java, Agile, Python, Eclipse, container technologies, and Open source are desirable as is familiarity with one or more of the following : Linux, Windows, .NET AIX, J2EE, JSSE or z/OS platform knowledge.
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
Nice to have skills include any of the following: Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Tekton, Kotlin, VSCode, JavaScript/TypeScript, Ansible, Git/GitHub, any relevant product knowledge.
